Prostitute, Fleshwater & Loathe @ The Fillmore

On Wednesday, September 23rd, Loathe came to town headlining at The Fillmore in Fishtown, Philadelphia. They are on tour for their new album, A Stranger to You, accompanied by heavy performances from Prostitute and Fleshwater.

The night opened with a thunderous performance from Dearborn, Michigan five-piece noise rock group Prostitute. They started the show with their song “Mr. Dada” off of their 2025 record Attempted Martyr. The song blew me away from the loudness of the snare and kicks, paired with the screaming vocals. Their stage presence was very cool, the whole stage was engulfed in smoke and dark lighting, giving their presence an ominous feeling contrasting well with the powerful energy and guitar riffs. Prostitute is opening every show on Loathe’s A Stranger to You Tour, with more explosive performances to come!

The next group onstage was Fleshwater from Boston, meshing heavy rock and metal riffage with electronic and shoegaze elements. Their stage presence was electric, their unique sound making their performance the standout of the night for me. Marisa Shirar’s vocals were truly addicting, especially on “Linda Claire.” The crowd went ecstatic when they played their hit “Kiss the Ladder.” I recall the band’s encouragement for the crowd to “put the security guards to work” which made me laugh. Fans obediently opened up a huge mosh pit. They ended the set with the track “Standalone,” a quick, high-energy ender that got everyone super hyped and was a great one to wrap up on.

Finally, Liverpool four-piece metal group Loathe took the stage with quite an entrance. The stage was completely dark, and you could faintly hear the electronic intro of “Block of Flats” menacingly growing louder until finally the stage erupted with red light and thunderous instrumentation. The crowd was going absolutely nuts, with waves of people from front to back jumping and moshing. Kadeem France’s vocals were extremely impressive and were the standout in Loathe’s performance. They played their popular songs like “Is It Really You?” and “A Sad Cartoon” which were amazing to hear live. They expressed how much they love the scene and playing in Philadelphia which grabbed the hearts of the crowd and myself. They ended the night with “No Stranger to You…,” my favorite track off of their new record. Loathe’s performance at The Fillmore was a night to remember and a memory I will keep with me for years to come! Get to a show if you can, catch them wrapping up their tour in North America and as they head internationally to Australia and Europe!
