FEATURE – Suelo: Common Ground
Hear from Carolina in this sit down interview:
Carolina Tucker-Delvalle is a senior graphic design major who imagined her own clothing line titled “Suelo: Common Ground” as a senior thesis project.
“I thought I had an opportunity to speak to my story, and allow it to be a platform for other people to share their stories. I started gathering stories from people and my family about immigration.”
Tucker-Delvalle is also a self-starter for her own brand High Dosage “I’ve always loved painting and making my own clothes. I found a way to create my own style, and honestly it is helping me figure out what I like. It has put me in some cool rooms. I have met so many people just because they see that I care about something so specific, and they are about something so specific too.”

Senior year is wrapping up for the artist and she had to say that Temple was only a building block for Tucker-Delvalle to come out and pursue connections herself “I think there are a lot of opportunities and different types of people I have met and see all the different avenues my friends have gone down. We all study the same thing, to see all the things we’ve learned translate into them is something that really stood out to me.”
As a creative Tucker-Delvalle has learned to love her work out loud throughout her years at Temple. “I used to be very shy, and I wouldn’t really talk about my art work to anyone and why it mattered to me. Then I figured, no one is going to care if I don’t talk about it. I think talking about something and outwardly adoring something is the best way for people to notice and care about what you are doing.”

“I think as I move forward, I am struggling to decide to package myself in a corporate digestible way, but at the end of the day I am still going to be doing this. It brings me too much joy to stop. I think there are so many creative opportunities here in Philly. I think the way the world is right now, everyone has something to say right now and I am here for it.”
