Tuesday, April 29th, was a night for energetic electronic music at the Union Transfer. The venue was filled with people swaying and raising their hands for DJ and musician, Elderbrook, and his opener, DJ and producer, Jerro.

Jerro wasted no time getting the crowd moving to his beats and setting the vibe for the rest of the upbeat and music-filled night. By the time his set concluded, the crowd was full of exhilarated emotion.

Loud cheering and brilliant smiles welcomed Elderbrook as he walked out on stage. He played his first song, and from there it was an almost constant stream of sound. Except for a “Hello Philadelphia” and a concise goodbye, every second was surrounded by a beat drop.

Throughout the show, Elderbrook alternated between singing, DJing, and playing either of the electric drum kits to his right and left. As he sang, he often outstretched his arms or gripped the microphone, face full of emotion. His energy was unwavering and unrelenting; it remained strong for the entire set.

As constant as Elderbrook’s sound, the crowd moved and swayed the entire time. With every beat drop, a newfound wave of energy would ripple through the crowd, never faltering. Some fans sang along to the words, dancing and bopping up and down, while others simply soaked in the sound, swaying with their eyes closed.

The audience especially lit up at the sound of “Cola,” one of Elderbrook’s most notable songs, a collaboration he did with Camelphat.

Pivotal to the Elderbrook show experience were the beaming lights that illuminated even the people in the back of the balcony area. In addition to frequently changing colors, they would switch from beams to spots, decorating the whole space.

Pumping out electric energy at every downbeat, Elderbrook’s show completely transformed an otherwise regular Tuesday night. Audience members left gushing and marveling over the invigorating experience.
