A collection of family and friends from Isabela, Puerto Rico, Chuwi is at the intersection of bomba, plena, salsa, jazz and synth blues. Siblings Lorén, Wester, and Wilfredo “Willy” Aldarondo along with percussionist Adrián López sews the essence of classic Boricua sound with modern indie elements to create a truly unique listening experience that transports you straight to western Puerto Rico.
The band flew straight from the island to Philadelphia to perform at the Feria del Barrio on September 13th, 2026 right at the intersection between Lehigh and Huntington Ave in “El Bloque de Oro”. Their set was energetic, moving and guaranteed to make you feel something, whether it was the urge to jump up and down or shed a tear at the beautiful voice of lead singer, Lorén. Each member had their turn to highlight their musical strengths which accumulated in their closing performance of “WELTiTA”, a collaboration with Bad Bunny on his 2025 Grammy award winning album, DeBí TiRAR MáS FOToS.
Chuwi proudly held up the Puerto Rican flag of resistance during the performance; a black and white version of the country’s current flag to symbolize mourning, protest and anti-colonial resistance. Keyboardist and background vocalists Wester also notably held up a tambourine to reveal the Palestinian flag imprinted on the front.
Not only did the band stand for anti-oppression movement, but they showcased their talents fantastically with a performance and energy that was extremely memorable.
