Temple to hire Florida DC Geoff Collins as next head coach

According to a report from ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, Florida defensive coordinator Geoff Collins will be named the next head coach at Temple.

Collins, 42, will succeed Matt Rhule, who was hired at Baylor this December after spending four seasons with the Owls. 

As Florida’s defensive coordinator for the last two seasons, Collins’ defense was nationally ranked sixth and seventh in total defense, which helped the Gators reach back-to-back SEC Championship games. Collins previously worked as defensive coordinator at Mississippi State (2011-2014) and Florida International (2010).

An official announcement from the school is expected to be released on Wednesday.
