Rupaul’s Queens Slay The Electric Factory

The Electric Factory was GAGGING on May 31 for RuPaul’s Drag Race: Battle of the Seasons. Hundreds of people of all ages crowded the stage to see their favorite drag queens perform up close.
At the beginning of the show, the queens performed a parody of the Little Mermaid with Michelle Visage, one of the judges on Rupaul’s Drag Race and the host for the evening. Each queen’s outfit had more glitter and sequins than the next. It. Was. Fabulous!
Visage, a loudmouthed diva whose fierceness rivals any drag queen, gave a wonderful speech about love and acceptance at the beginning of the show. The most memorable piece of advice she gave was to step up your own game and be better rather than hating on someone else.
After Visage’s opening speech, some of the finest queens from the hit reality show came onstage to strut their stuff. Performances throughout the night varied, from lip syncs, to stand up, to live singing. No matter who was performing, the audience went crazy.
Each season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, the queens partake in a challenge called Snatch Game. An interesting twist on the classic game show Match Game, queens impersonate celebrities with the goal of garnering as much laughter from the audience as possible. At Battle of the Season, three queens participated as the panel, with two audience members chosen to be the game’s competitors. Most notably, Sharon Needles, the winner of Season Four, dressed as Caitlyn Jenner, waving a beer bottle around and rattling off jokes.
Another standout performance came from Season Seven winner Violet Chachki. Chachki slayed the crowd with her seductive strip tease. She went from a full red sequin dress to a beautiful girdle and heart shaped pasties. After ditching her dress, Chachki proceeded to dance around the stage. Chachki’s breathtaking performance left the crowd wanting more.
The amount of talent on display at the Electric Factory was beyond belief. From the show-stopping performances to the flashy attire, every second of the night was spectacular. For those who have never seen a drag show before, Rupaul’s Drag Race: Battle of the Seasons is a great place to start.
