If you weren’t at the Molchat Doma Philly show you definitely missed out! Formed in 2017, the Belarusian trio put on an incredibly captivating show.
Their set was filled with songs from their 2019 album Этажи (Etazhi: “Floors”), their latest 2024 album Белая Полоса (Belaya Polosa: “White Stripe”), and some earlier music. Lead singer Egor Shkutko’s dancing and deep hypnotic vocals (which sounded nearly identical to the band’s studio recordings) turned what might be an otherwise repetitive sounding setlist into a captivating and entrancing performance.
Colorful flashing strobes throughout the show juxtaposed with the band’s moody and angsty sound, but fit perfectly with their signature 80’s retro style synths. Despite not being able to sing along or understand any of their lyrics, it was incredible to watch them perform and I didn’t want the show to end!!!
