The South Florida music artist was shot and killed last June outside of a Motorcycle dealership, and at the time was awaiting trial for his domestic violence, witness tampering and harassment charges. Now, by word of the Miami-Dade county state-attorney’s office, XXX, real name Jahseh Onfroy, “makes admissions to multiple criminal acts” in the audio recordings made during his initial arrest, some time in October 2016. At this time, Onfroy was facing multiple charges, which included aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, and a repeated pattern of abuse that can be summarized within this Pitchfork article that details the many accusations made in a 142-page transcript of the victims testimony. The many details within the testimony are very graphic, and thus should be advised before reading. The article by Pitchfork states that “the woman said she suffered a grim pattern of routine abuse and offered harrowing details about what she said happened in the final days before the charges”. In the audio clips released by police, Onfroy is on record of saying “I put my source of happiness in another person, which was a mistake initially, right? But she fell through on every occasion until now.” Here, Onfroy is referencing the fact that he suspected her to be cheating, which was what lead to the start of the abuse. He then adds, “now she’s scared. That girl is scared for her life. Which I understand.” He even vows to kill her, earlier in the clip, “if she play with me”, he says. In addition to this, he admits to the stabbing of nine others by stating, “I'm on \[Miami\] New Times for stabbing, how many people they put in the news? They said three, it was eight. In Deerfield.” Here, Onfroy clearly admits that he committed such heinous acts, but perhaps these audio clips are being referenced a bit too late, considering the charges have been dropped since his death. What remains is a victim, Geneva Ayala, who according to Independent, has since received an increased amount of donations to cover her medical bills. This doesn’t erase the fact that within the same month, before his death, Ayala spoke to the Miami New Times, where she opened up about XXX’s fans cyberbullying and stalking her. Moving forward, now that Onfroy is gone, it’s important to consider the health and safety of Ayala, being as though she is still suffering from Onfroy’s abuse to this day.It will also be interesting to see whether or not the Grammy’s will choose to nominate XXXTentacion for the upcoming award ceremony, four months out. Judging from this new information released by police, it currently seems unlikely.
