The Temple Owls beat the East Carolina Pirates by a score of 11-6.
They improve their overall record to 10-3 and are currently riding a six-game winning streak. Bridget Whittaker, Belle Mastropietro, and Abaigeal Ryan carried a lot of the load for the Owls, as all three of them combined for eight of the Owls’ eleven total goals.
The team got off to a bit of a rocky start, as at one point during the game, they were trailing the Pirates by a score of 2-1.
The Owls came roaring back, as they scored three consecutive goals to take a 4-2 lead. Going into the half, they lead by a score of 4-3.
From there on out, the Owls completely took over the game. The team’s offense was unstoppable, as they scored a total of seven goals and four consecutive to close out the game.
After the game, Coach Rosen talked about the important in-game adjustments that were to be made, and they worked to perfection. She talked about how the team’s offense and defense have been extraordinary, and it’s been the main reason why they have managed to win six in a row. No matter how well your playing, there are always things to improve upon.
I asked her a question about the one thing that the team needs to improve upon as they move deeper into their schedule, and she asserted that the team needs more physicality in order to keep on winning games, they need to match the other team’s aggressiveness.
For now, let’s keep our heads up high, as the Owls are currently on a roll, and it’s looking like it will continue to stay that way.
Their next game is on Friday, April 23, at Vanderbilt, as they look to continue the winning ways.
