The Dear Hunter @ Union Transfer

This all american progressive rock band from Rhode Island took the stage at Union Transfer Thursday December 14th, ending their Fall 2017 tour in Philadelphia, PA. Accompanied by headliners The Family Crest and VAVA.

The first band to take the stage was The Family Crest, an american orchestral indie rock band based in San Francisco. The band was created in 2008, made up of seven core members, Liam McCormick, the lead vocalist and guitarist and his band mates took the stage constantly keeping the crowd moving to the music.

Leaving the crowd speechless with a lot of energy circulating Union Transfer, the crowd swayed and moved to the beat of the music as the lights reflected off of the faces in the crowd.

 

As the concert continued, the talented Laura Bergmann began to play the flute with undeniable vocals. After months of covering concerts, never have I seen such a talent unlike George Samaan’s trombone solo.

 

Kicking it back to a more jazz/rock feel, the light dimming the lights to a more warm emotional slow song. The band ended the set with an outstanding guitar solo as the crowd clapped to the rhythm of the song, giving a big thank you to Dear Hunter as well as all the fans.

The Dear Hunter began the set with “The Squeaky Wheel” automatically causing the crowd to go wild.The originality and friendship of the band and their fans created such a open and loving environment. This allowed the crowd to engage in multiple conversations with the lead singer Casey Crescenzo, who responded with humorous replies.

The crowd surrounding me passionately sang and moved to the rhythm of the songs, bonding over their love for the band.

 

 

Crescenzo, took a moment to really thank the fans for all their support and admiration throughout the entire tour. In between sets the band took a second to just embrace the love and appreciation from the crowd. As the night went on, the crowd danced freely to the modern rock band’s soulful songs. The unique rock style, had instrumental moments on stage, leaving the crowd with chills.

Lights flashing all over the room crowd gave out a big cheer as guitarists and the drummer broke into a solo, creating a suspense as the music had the crowd on the tips of their toes ready to rock out.

There was a moment of silence for the band as the lead singer Crescenzo took a sip of water allowing the fans to yell out “I love you,” “You guys rock,” etc. Crescenzo thanked the crowd for coming out and asks the fans how their Thursday’s are going everyone cheers, in response a member of the crowd asked the same to Casey Crescenzo.

 

As The Dear Hunter’s set was winding down, the band never exiting the stage, they gave a short explanation of how encores are worthless and there’s no need to worry about the band coming back because they are already on stage never killing the vibes of the crowd.
