We get a lot of music shared with us at WHIP Radio, and we enjoy checking it all out! In this series, we’ll be featuring some of our favorite releases that have hit our inbox.

Manic Pixie Dream Girl! by Brea Fournier & the Dream Ballet
Comparisons to characters like Ramona Flowers, like Bria Fournier mentions in “(That Guy You’re Talking To”), come with the territory of the manic pixie dream girl fictional character type. Brea Fournier & the Dream Ballet’s album, Manic Pixie Dream Girl! is an epic pop-rock/rock/opera dedicated to exploring and adding another layer to the character portrayal. The album bounces through pop, rock, pop-punk and a ‘90s rock feel to tell the story. Looking forward to seeing videos of them bringing the story to life in NYC in March!
PMX is an independent girl group from Orlando and their sophomore EP is a fun one! The trio brings back the girl group sound of the ‘90s and early 2000s and reinvigorates it with house music, R&B, and modern pop. The EP cover with its bright colors and bubble font matches the feel of the music. Their wardrobe definitely serves as outfit inspiration, too!
“Mr. Arrogant” Music Video by The Inside Out
Connecticut indie rock band The Inside Out released the music video for their latest track “Mr. Arrogant” and it shows the journey of the band trying to get to their gig on time with hitchhiking, skateboarding, and some more chaos. The video accompanies the upbeat-sounding track that feels like summery indie rock and carries a deeper reminder to stay grounded. Baltimore band Dosser knows rock, and their appreciation for it shows in their track “Glazed Over.” With a 90s-grunge-like tone and vocal style alongside a guitar riff you can’t forget. This track is the perfect mix of heavier rock/metal and melodies that is begging to be blasting from a house show basement.
“Glitter Gold” by Kathleen Fee
Lead singer of NYC Irish band Celtic Cross, Kathleen Fee is kicking off her own venture into music with the pop-country song “Glitter Gold.” The track is all about sticking things through, even on days when it’s not easy. She always has a feeling, time and place “where it’s raining glitter gold” in mind, and encourages listeners to imagine the same.
“Aurora Lights” by Lucas Horne
Singer-songwriter Lucas Horne knows how to craft and deliver a heartfelt story through his music. With his three singles so far, he tells his stories of looking back, thinking about the future, and staying grounded in the present. Horne is no stranger to the music industry, previously working in touring as a merchandise and production manager. Excited to see where his onstage journey as an artist goes!
Melancholy Friend by Jayme Graves
As Jayme Graves writes, they’re here to “bring depth back to the reignited pop/punk and emo revival.” They do exactly that on their debut EP Melancholy Friend. Guitar guides the way of the EP, with honest lyrics that you can feel deep down. “Blame the Internet” is a highlight with its opening guitar and catchy chorus that explores how it can feel to constantly log on and offline.
