Temple University Hillel Holds Annual Israel Week

With multiple Jewish holidays occurring this past week, Hillel at Temple University hosted its annual Israel Week.
Holocaust Remembrance Day, Israel’s Memorial Day and Israeli Independence Day all fall in the last week of April this year.
The daily events on campus ranged from educational to religious to cultural. These events include discussions, Israeli dancing, and a carnival to end the week.
According to Max Buchdahl, Temple Hillel’s Student President, Hillel has been holding Israel Week for about five years. He went on to explain that the week is to both celebrate the state of Israel as a whole, culminating with an Israeli Independence Day celebration on May 1.
“The aim for this week is to get everyone involved and to educate while having fun,” said Aviv Reif, Temple Hillel’s Israel Chair and President of the Owls for Israel club.
Reif expects the Israel Shabbat to be “really special” and is “very excited for the carnival and the party afterwards” on Monday, May 1. The carnival will take place at Temple Hillel starting at 5 p.m.
